Food- Import of all food stuffs from foreign ports is strictly controlled by the Federal Food and Drug Administration.
Plants- The Hawaii State Department of Agriculture regulates the importation of all plant and soil related articles.
Animal Products- Furs, skins, ivory tusks, tortoise shells or other trophies like wood carvings and similar items that are subject to the U.S. Endangered Species Act are subject to confiscation by U.S. Customs through foreign importation.
Other banned or regulated articles to be concerned with are fireworks, explosives, hazardous chemicals and waste, narcotics, dangerous drugs and certain medication may be subject to confiscation and criminal prosecution if an attempt to import is made without complying with all necessary Federal and State laws governing such articles.
