Three Options for Motorcycle Shipping
(1) Door to Door: This option, although the priciest, is the most convenient, hassle-free way to ship your motorcycle. This service includes pick up shuttle service for your motorcycle and delivery of your motorcycle to your residence at your final destination.
(2) Warehouse to Door: This option can help you save money by eliminating pick up from your residence. Drop off your motorcycle at an RHM warehouse and we’ll take care of the rest. When your motorcycle reaches its final destination, it will be delivered directly to your designated location.
(3) Warehouse to Warehouse: This is another option that eliminates pick up from your residence, it also eliminates a drop off to your residence at your final destination. RHM will coordinate our sister company, DeWitt Move Worldwide for the destination port to warehouse service. You will be contacted once the shipment is available at the destination warehouse.
How Do We Do It?
Our shipping process for motorcycles is a very unique process. We are the only moving company to offer a shuttle pick up of your motorcycle to ensure its safety during transportation to the RHM warehouse. Once the motorcycle reaches the warehouse, it is measured and custom crated for shipping. It is put on a custom made pallet, blocked and braced with bolts, and enclosed with solid wood. We make sure that each crate is built with solid wood all around versus a corrugated cardboard crate.
What We Need from You
Prior to dropping off your motorcycle, it is very important that you make sure that the motorcycle is cleared for shipping. We will need the year, make, and model of your motorcycle. We will also need the approximate weight and dimensions. When shipping to the US mainland, the original title and a valid id are required. Below is a detailed list of what information you will need to provide and what to do if your motorcycle is inoperable.
Motorcycle Shipping Documentation Requirements
The documents you’ll need depend on your motorcycle’s ownership and condition. Here’s what to expect.
Standard Documentation
For most motorcycle shipments, you’ll need:
- Current Registration – The motorcycle must be registered in either Hawaii or your state of residence.
- Title – The title should be in your name.
- Valid Government-Issued Photo ID
Military Shipments
If you’re shipping your motorcycle as part of a military move, you’ll also need:
- A copy of your military orders
If Your Motorcycle Is Financed
If your motorcycle has a loan and the bank still holds the title, we’ll also need:
- A Lien Holder Authorization Letter (sometimes called a Lien Release or Authorization to Ship) from your lender authorizing the shipment.
Shipping an Inoperable Motorcycle
If your motorcycle isn’t running and the registration has expired, you have two options:
Option 1: Ship as Parts
No ownership or registration paperwork is required if:
- The motorcycle is shipped as parts.
- The engine must be removed from the motorcycle before shipment.
Option 2: Ship the Motorcycle Intact
If you’d like to ship the motorcycle as a complete unit, you’ll need documentation from the DMV showing it is officially inoperable, such as:
- An Inoperable Certificate, or
- A registration with an official inoperable status.
